In honor of Earth Day, the Olneyville Collaborative sponsored Olneyville SHINES, a clean-up day for the community members of the Olneyville neighborhood to work together to replant the community garden and to remove garbage and debris from the streets, abandoned lots, parking lots, and from the Woonasquatucket River. Over 200 participants volunteered for the clean-up. In addition to the numerous residents, Citizens Bank, Dirt Palace, Habitat for Humanity- Cumberland Highschool, Institute for the Study and Practice of Non-Violence, Joslin Community Center, Olneyville Boys & Girls Club, Olneyville Collaborative, Olneyville Housing Corporation, Providence College, Rhode Island US Attorney's Office, St. Teresa's Church, the SteelYard, Struever Brothers, Ecclces & Rouse, Inc., Weed & Seed, the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council, and YouthBuild all were represented.
